Do not use version 10 from the Trekstor website as it has problems with the volume (per Datastation). Now that I've figured that out I think I'll get a lot of use out of this. Device was showing nothing on the display when I got it, and still periodically loses the display. Also remove the battery before reinstalling the firmware. I save all my music to a 4GB card rather than the device, so I don't lose it with the firmware installation. I have to reinstall the firmware each time. Note if you're having problems- get the firmware version 2.09.92.09 from Support@datastation.us.
But I've put in one of my own NiMH rechargable and it has lasted two weeks with no sign of letting up.For under $15, I highly recommend this unit. Mostly I just wanted a cheap MP3 player, so the added FM radio feature was a welcome plus.In fact, I found the instuctions for loading music so complicated, I STILL haven't done it and have ONLY been using the FM radio feature, which, so far, keeps my brain occupied while working out at the "Y."I'm sure I'll figure out the instructions, someday, but to tell the truth, I haven't taken the player out of my gym bag since I started taking it to the gym. One more thing, the included AAA battery only lasted a week of use, about two hours a day, for six days.
The email section was apparently not working, so a few days later I called. Within a couple hours of explaining my problem, I got an email with everything my low-tech brain needed to solve my problem. For a low-cost player, I think this is a pretty good deal, you shouldn't pay more than $10-12.00. Someone answered right away, and they were very apologetic that they had not received my inquiry. I will do business with this company again. The manual leaves a little to be desired, so when I tried to set it up I did something wrong, but there was no troubleshooting section. The manufacturer's website includes an area to email for support, which I did.
Less than one star product. Garbage, spend 30$ at walmart and get a sansa 1gig player.
They simply don't work anymore. Too bad. Don't waste your money on this crappy item. Go for a better unit. You really do get what you pay for. It was good for the first month or so but now it is having problems. Some of the buttons are beginning to give me trouble.
